STEP 1

Before the workshop starts in November 2021, a series of works such as data collection, land survey and interview with local stakeholders formalizing an “order” in connection with objectives of the Climate-Resilient Urban Design project.

[Step 1] Climate Analysis Mapping I [Step 1] Climate Analysis Mapping

Urban climate mapping analysis would be an essential first step in identifying urban areas subject to the most significant impacts associated with rising temperatures, increasing precipitation and extreme weather events. This mapping analysis provides climate projections on the smallest scale as preliminary information to lead evidence-based design guidelines. During this period, an introductory one-day seminar would also be organized.

  Conference
The workshop would start with an one-day conference on the climate-related, urban-related and data sciences. Valérie Masson Delmotte gave her agreement by email to intervene (subject to compatibility with her agenda). A series of lectures will be given by the researchers involved in this project such as Jeffrey Raven (NYIT), Luc Abbadie (UCCRN), Bruno Barroca (UGE), Vinent Becue (U-Mons), Mattia Léone (UNINA) as well as by guest speakers (to contact) such as Katia Chancibault (UGE, ex. Ifsttar), Malika Madelin (Paris-Descartes).

Bénéfices attendus pour les étudiants  I Expected benefits for students

It is an "entire" project ranging from a problem formalization to proposals built and tested in the climatic chamber of Sense-City. This project would allow students, as a first step, to learn to obtain the necessary information by themselves, to discover innovative urban techniques in a specific field and to examine them. Project-based pedagogy would then lead them to become fully involved in their learning process. In addition to training them in the practice of digital manufacturing, the research and manufacturing prototype may encourage them to be creative and play an active role, on their own scale, in urban innovation.
